Christ and Helen Doucleff bought the Jackson Bottling Co./Lucky Club Soda on 9th Street (located directly behind the bakery) from Glennon Jackson on October 25, 1943 and from there Duke Beverage Co. was born. When the building on Henry Street became available in 1951, the Doucleffs started the bakery and ran both businesses for several years. After the bakery took off and the big name soda makers began to dominate the soda market, they closed the soda plant.

2026 marks the 75th anniversary of Duke Bakery and in celebration we have brought back glass bottled soda in some of the original flavors and a few new choices. Stop by and grab a single bottle or mix and match in our convenient carriers. Choose from Dukola (cola), Old Fashioned Root Beer, Cream, Orange, Grape-O, Strawberry and Blue Raspberry.
