About Duke Bakery

Duke Bakery is a full line retail bakery spacializing in wedding cakes, specialty cakes, donuts, pastries, pies, breads, buns and cookies. Duke Bakery was founded in 1951 by Christ and Helen Doucleff with the desire to serve the Alton and Riverbend area with the highest quality bakery items possible. In 1972, the business was passed on to the second generation, brothers Michael and Karl Doucleff. In 1996, upon Karl Doucleff’s retirement, Michael’s daughter and third generation, Amy Doucleff-Hollis came on board. In 1999, Amy's husband Ben Hollis joined the business, and in 2006, another location was opened in Granite City to fill a void and to better serve the Metro-East area. Since the beginning, Duke Bakery has served many local restaurants with baked goods; however, in 2012, with the loss of the Godfrey location due to a devastating fire, Duke Bakery Inc. Wholesale was founded. An aggressive campaign was started to supply many local restaurants, bars, grocers, and convenience stores with many of the bakery's most popular items.
